Abstract
We examined whether silibinin and resveratrol affect airway mucin production, degradation of I¥êB and translocation of NF-¥êB p65 induced by TNF-¥á in NCI-H292 cells. Cells were pretreated with each agent for 30 min and then stimulated with TNF-¥á for 24 h or the indicated periods. The two compounds suppressed TNF-¥á-induced airway mucin production, degradation of I¥êB and translocation of NF-¥êB p65. This result suggests that silibinin and resveratrol can regulate the production of mucin induced by TNF-¥á through the inactivation of NF-¥êB pathway in airway epithelial cells.
